ScanMerge ("the App") is developed by Kevin Merz ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our macOS application.

The short version: ScanMerge does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All PDF processing happens entirely on your device.

Data Collection

We do not collect any data. Specifically:

• We do not collect personal information
• We do not collect usage analytics
• We do not track your behavior
• We do not access your documents beyond what you explicitly provide to the app
• We do not upload any files to any server

Local Processing

All PDF merging and processing happens entirely on your Mac. Your documents never leave your device. We have no servers that receive or process your files.

File Access

ScanMerge only accesses files that you explicitly provide to the app through:

• Drag and drop operations
• File picker dialogs

The app operates within macOS's App Sandbox, which means it cannot access files outside of the locations you explicitly grant access to.

Third-Party Services

ScanMerge does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

If you download the app from the Mac App Store, Apple may collect certain information as described in their privacy policy. We do not have access to this data.

Children's Privacy

Since we do not collect any data, ScanMerge is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using ScanMerge ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.

Kevin Merz grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms of Use.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, KEVIN MERZ SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Loss of data or documents
• Missing, corrupted, or incorrectly merged pages
• Damage to files or documents
• Loss of profits or revenue
• Business interruption
• Loss of use or functionality
• Any errors in PDF processing or output
• Incompatibility with certain PDF formats
• Any other damages arising from the use or inability to use the App

This limitation applies regardless of whether the damages arise from use or misuse of the App, inability to use the App, or interruption, suspension, or termination of the App.

User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

• Maintaining backup copies of your original documents
• Verifying the output of merged documents before relying on them
• Ensuring the App is suitable for your intended use
• Any consequences resulting from using the App

No Professional Advice

The App is a utility tool and does not provide professional, legal, or any other form of advice. Always verify important documents independently.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Kevin Merz from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Use at any time. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Germany, without regard to conflict of law principles.
