Privacy Policy for CalcGrid

This privacy policy explains how CalcGrid ("the App", "we", "us") handles your data. CalcGrid is developed and operated by Kevin Merz.
1. Our Privacy Commitment
CalcGrid is built with privacy as a core value:
- No user accounts required — The app works entirely without registration
- No personal data collection — We do not collect your name, email, or any personally identifiable information
- No analytics or tracking — We do not use any third-party analytics, crash reporting, or tracking services
- No cross-app tracking — We do not track you across other apps or websites
- Local-first storage — Your puzzle progress, statistics and settings stay on your device
- Fully offline — The app does not require an internet connection to play
- No external SDKs — The app uses only native system frameworks (StoreKit)
2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
CalcGrid stores the following data locally on your device only:
2.1 Puzzle Progress & Statistics
- What: Current puzzle state, completed puzzles, best times, hint usage, statistics history
- Storage: Local device storage (UserDefaults / app sandbox)
- Purpose: To resume your puzzle and display your personal statistics
- Your control: Deleted when you uninstall the app
2.2 Daily Challenge & Streaks
- What: Whether today's challenge has been played, your result, current and longest streak
- Storage: Local device storage
- Purpose: To enforce one attempt per day and display your streak
- Your control: Deleted when you uninstall the app
2.3 App Settings
- What: Theme selection, audio preferences, haptic settings, difficulty preference
- Storage: UserDefaults (local only)
- Purpose: To remember your preferences between app launches
- Your control: Reset by deleting the app
2.4 Premium Status
- What: Whether the one-time Premium purchase is active
- Storage: Verified via StoreKit (system framework); a local flag is cached for offline access
- Purpose: To enable Premium features and additional themes after purchase
- Your control: Managed through your store account; restore purchase at any time
2.5 Rating Prompt State
- What: Whether and how often you have skipped the rating prompt
- Storage: UserDefaults (local only)
- Purpose: To respect your decision and not show the rating prompt again after the configured limit
- Your control: Reset by deleting the app
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
CalcGrid does not collect, store, or transmit:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
- Location data
- Device identifiers for advertising purposes (no IDFA use)
- Photos, contacts, calendar, or health data
- Keyboard input beyond normal in-app number entry
- Usage telemetry or session recordings
- Crash reports sent to third-party services
4. Advertising
CalcGrid does not contain advertisements. There are no ad networks, ad SDKs, or ad identifiers integrated into the app.
5. Third-Party Services
CalcGrid uses minimal third-party services.
5.1 StoreKit (In-App Purchase)
- Purpose: One-time Premium in-app purchase processing and license verification
- Data shared: None by us; the platform processes payments according to its own privacy policy

6. Data Security
- All puzzle data is stored locally using standard system security mechanisms
- The app is sandboxed — no access to other apps or system areas beyond its own data
- No data is transmitted to external servers by us
- Purchase verification uses the secure StoreKit framework
7. Data Retention and Deletion
- Local data: Retained until you uninstall the app
- Purchase history: Managed through your store account
- Complete deletion: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data including puzzle progress, statistics, settings, and daily challenge history
8. Tracking & Identifiers
CalcGrid does not track you:
- No advertising identifiers — We do not use IDFA or any advertising tracking
- No fingerprinting — We do not use device fingerprinting techniques
- No cross-app or cross-site tracking — We do not track you across other apps or websites
- No analytics SDKs — We do not use Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or any other analytics service
9. Children's Privacy
CalcGrid does not knowingly collect personal data from any user, including children under 13. The app contains no objectionable content and uses no analytics SDKs. It is a number puzzle suitable for all ages and rated 4+.
10. International Users
All your data remains locally on your device. No personal information is transferred internationally. Purchase transactions are handled by the platform according to its privacy policy.
11. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights under GDPR:
- Access: All your data is stored locally on your device — you have full access at all times
- Deletion: Uninstall the app to delete all local data immediately
- Portability: Settings and statistics are stored in a standard format on your device
- No remote data processing: Since no data leaves your device, there is no remote data processing to object to

12. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
For California residents: CalcGrid does not sell personal information. We do not collect personal information as defined by CCPA.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The effective date at the top indicates when this policy was last revised. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Terms of Use for CalcGrid
Effective Date: April 27, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing or using CalcGrid, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. License
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use CalcGrid for personal, non-commercial use on devices you own or control, subject to the platform's standard end user license agreement (EULA).
3. In-App Purchases
- CalcGrid offers a single, one-time Premium in-app purchase ("CalcGrid Premium", product identifier
de.merzkevin.calcgrid.premium) for USD 4.99 (or local equivalent set by the platform). - The purchase is non-consumable and unlocks unlimited hints, all premium themes, detailed statistics and the time-pressure Challenge Mode permanently for the same store account.
- The purchase is processed and billed exclusively by Apple via the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details.
- Premium status can be restored at any time on any device signed in with the same Apple ID via the "Restore Purchases" option in the app.
4. Refunds
Refund requests are handled exclusively through Apple's standard refund process. To request a refund, please use Apple's Report a Problem page. We are not able to issue refunds directly.
5. Acceptable Use
- CalcGrid is a fully offline app — there are no servers, no user accounts, and no server-side limits or rate limits imposed by us.
- You agree not to reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where permitted by applicable law.
- You agree not to use the app in a way that violates applicable laws or the App Store terms.
6. Intellectual Property
- The CalcGrid app, including its source code, generated puzzles, design, graphics, sounds and the "CalcGrid" name, is owned by Kevin Merz and is protected by applicable copyright and trademark law.
- Your locally stored data (puzzle progress, statistics, settings, streaks) belongs to you. We do not claim any ownership over the data you create on your device.
7. Disclaimer
CalcGrid is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with all devices.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kevin Merz shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the app, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. The "Effective Date" at the top of this section indicates when the Terms were last revised. Continued use of the app after the new Effective Date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
10. Governing Law
